Tea Time allows users to read all the latest updates from the beauty and influencer community, from newest products to recent drama, all in one app.

Problem

The beauty community spans across all types of social media platforms, from YouTube and Twitter to Instagram and Snapchat.
It can be difficult to keep up with news with so much content to filter through across so many apps.

Goals

Tea Time aims to collate all the news and drama from all relevant platforms, so that users can use one app to stay up to date on the latest news.
Tea Time also aims to integrate in-app shopping so that users can buy products from their favourite makeup gurus all on one app.

User Research

The app is targeted towards young people, aged 14-30. As a person who regularly follows the goings-on in the beauty community, I feel I know exactly what is needed to make it easier to view all the content flying around the internet.

Take a look at the user persona I created, Taylor is exactly the type of person I want to target Tea Time towards.

Process & Development

So the I had the problems, solutions and the user pinned down, now it was time get some solid ideas going. I find it almost impossible to fully trust my decisions if I go straight to digital work, so on-paper sketching and idea generation is essential for me.

Final Screens

These are the finalised screens for the app. As you can see, the design is very similar to my focused wireframes because I took the time to work on paper first. You can also see the finalised logo on the first screen.

Next Steps

As this project is still in progress, there are a couple of things I could still change and add.

Commenting sections are pretty essential in the beauty community so that's definitely something I will need to add, as well as the option to create a profile (required to make comments). Maybe this could open up possibilities like users being able to write their own articles.

The design of the side navigation on the peoples tab needs to be polished off, maybe it could be included on the 'saved' page too so users can toggle between articles and products.

I could also tie in an element of Socialblade, so that live subscriber counts and activity can be accessed in app.

Stay tuned!
