Next Employee Portal

After working at Next for almost three years, I am acutely aware of the flaws within the Next Employee Portal. I realised this was a perfect opportunity to completely redesign it, focusing on core UI princples and content management.

Below is the current NEP design, as you can see it needs a makeover to say the least...

Problem

The current design lacks visual style, clinical should not equal ugly.
Information hierarchy seems to be ignored for the most part, with content needing to be streamlined and rethought.
Overall, as a user I can say accessing the NEP and it's iportant features is not a good experience.

Goals

Establish better visual hierarchy with changes to the UI and content design.
Create a step-by-step information flow.
Allow users to easily and efficiently access important info without searching through useless content.
Enable a more positive experience for users.

Thinking It Out

As mentioned in other projects, I find it almost impossible to fully trust my decisions if I go straight to digital work, so on-paper sketching and idea generation is essential for me.
